Lilian's history

Lilian and her siblings grew up together as denizens of the Weyr. Two of her sisters followed in their mother's footsteps working in the lower caverns, while Nalshi dared to break the mold and go into the healingcraft. While all the children looked up to their father, a brownrider, it was Lani and her little brother Aquxianal who wanted most to be like him. Small and impressionable, Aqu followed the motherly Nalshi to work and found himself wrapped up in its wonders and horrors.

Li meanwhile, devoted her time to asking her father questions or spending time with his brown Loshnalth when he was on the ground. If he wasn't on his couch or ledge, she was following him up, skinned knees and all, to the fire heights where he enjoyed the most sun. She was always nosing her way into the records room, borrowing many skins of dragon statistics, medicines, and lore. It became obvious to the adults around her that even if she never Impressed, the girl would always be around dragons. When she was old enough, she began her apprenticeship under the Weyr's dragonhealers.

Once, their father N'liu and his dragon were struck during a particularly bad Fall while Aqu was on shift. N'liu didn't make it and as expected, Loshnalth went abruptly between. The whole family was struck with grief, but Aqu and Li were hit the hardest. While Aqu turned his anger inward, Li turned it more outward. While her face became an impassive mask, she developed a touch of kleptomania: if she had a particular dislike for someone and saw something she wanted, she took it. She became very good, and with time polished her skill to the point where she rarely got caught anymore. By the time she had become a journeywoman dragon healer, she had become as proficient with her "sleight of hand."

Her reputation grew as with age she cared for those around her less and less. There were few people in her life she valued, two of which were her brother and her off-and-on lover, Cheynoron. If confronted, one might face a pair of cold eyes that could have belonged to a large wildcat. Fear, as always, had become an alien entity; her fear of death had been erradicated whin the life of one she cared so much for had been thrown away.
