Physical Description

Hair

His curly, mousy-blond hair falls to the chin; he has no bangs.

Eyes

He has large eyes, a trait that runs in his family, almost beautiful due to the fact that they are almost always smiling. They are dark brown, nearly black in color, rimmed in eyelashes the same mousy color as the rest of his hair.

Physique

Though not as muscular as his brother, and a little shorter at 5'11", he is from the same sturdy farmer stock.

Appearance

His face is square in shape but with such gentle features that raw emotions expressed there, such as disgust, or worse yet rage, would be a shock to anyone who has never seen such sharp lines etched into his skin. His skin is easily burned though it eventually deepens to a light tan with a few freckles. Numerous cooking-related scars on his arms, one burn on the top of his foot are telltale marks of his trade.

Dress

In the kitchens he wears a white lace-up shirt and rolls up the loose sleeves. Non-dyed pants (grey, off-white, etc.) are included so they can be properly bleached of stains with greater ease, and soft leather slippers are worn in case something hot or sharp should land on his toes. Once making the mistake of wearing sandals was all he needed to prevent any further mishaps. He doesn't mind wearing the white cooking apron, sometimes forgetting about it, wearing the outer garment in the dining hall at mealtimes until reminded to take it off. Off-duty, he wears “something or other,” an outfit he couldn’t recall the next day if prompted. Such things simply don’t matter enough to him.

Personality

Additude

Gerotaeo is especially quiet and withdrawn when around those he is not comfortable with. With his closer friends, he tends to open up more with a ready smile or laugh. For all people, he has a gentle expression that reveals a deep sense of honesty and loyalty to those who have truly earned it.

Hobbies

With his co-workers in the kitchen he never minds to chit-chat, which most men would consider meaningless, or at the very least a waste of time. Those who work in the kitchen understand the value of something like that to pass the time... His major fault is his daydreaming. Though it rarely interferes with his work for long (he has become adept at working on autopilot) it is nevertheless unnerving and more than a little annoying to his supervisors, or to anyone who is trying to get his attention for that matter!

Family

Bondmate

Yellow Xerbith, a lemony-yellow dragon from Ryslen, is Gero's bondmate and best friend. In many ways, Xerbith's calm demeanor that is the rocky foundation that stabalizes Gero's life, especially when Gato is not around. They console and advise one another, go off on excursions together, or are simply content to sit in the same vicinity as one another.

Father

Manuen (pronounced like man-owen), a well-established farmer Gerotaeo feels no real attachment to. The elder has always been harsh and seemingly unloving with his younger son, who in turn has little to spare for him, in terms of time or love.

Mother

Taynae (pronounced tay-nay-ee), a gentle farmer's daughter, felt it difficult to leave her son solely in the care of his father. In her heart she felt that neither he nor Gato deserved that kind of upbringing, and so as they grew older came back into their lives and in a way became more of a parent to Gero in particular than Manuen ever had.

Siblings

Half-brother and best friend, Gatoshnarel (pronounced gaa-TOHSH-nah-rehl) is the elder of the two and lives up to that role daily. His disposition is more aggressive in a subtle way than Gero, a sort of "unlikely hero" to those he is most familiar with. He is highly energetic, feeling a constant need to do something useful, and in this way is often Gero's motivational force.

Extended Family

Gato's mother and Gero's aunt, Shola (pronounced like show-la) took a less active role in the lives of the two boys. It was never due to a lack of love and responsibility on her part, but rather because of her other responsibilities. Gato's personality type he inherited from Shola, a woman who has always been busy and active in her community. Nevertheless, both Gato and Gero always look forward to a visit from her, visits much treasured and used to catch up on time lost.

Pets

Brown firelizard Vanhi (pronounced like van-he) is brown, very nearly black in color. He is an odd-looking little flit, seemingly part-seadragon from the fin-like membranes down his neck and at the base and end of his tail. He is a playful firelizard, almost flirty even with Gero. But perhaps his behavior is simply to lighten the mood, for it certainly makes Gerotaeo's day a little brighter.
