Nejireru's story, page 3 Ivasheth's hatching occurred on a dark, soggy day. Everyone that arrived at the Sands from outside was dripping by the time they ducked inside. The heat radiating from the dunes eliminated that problem soon enough. Nejireru did not mind the rain all that much. Its cool touch reminded him of his mission, that he was here for a reason. The hatchlings began to break egg, and his thoughts focused strictly on the here and now. He stood with his arms crossed as he watched the events unfold, and did not even flinch when one dark beast lunged at him. Narrowing his eyes, he silently dared her to attack. When she stalked off, he snorted softly in derision. He began to wonder if any of these beasts would be right for him, until he glanced up at their dam. Then he knew that he would not be walking off the sand alone, a feeling reinforced only briefly, on and off, throughout the rest of the hatching. A brilliant black-red beast crouched along the Sands, hunting bonders through the shadows. He watched Nejieru for the longest time from beneath insectoid legs before wandering back into the darkness. ~ Exerpt from Serpent's Reach Caer's Nightmares and Dreamscapes hatching. Nejireru looked all around, red brows furrowing. That was...? He felt something. No, it was not the slimy mind-speak of the hydras announcing the arrival of some giant bugs hoping to bond. It was similar to the touch of Ivasheth's, cool, dark, and silky, like a cloak fluttering against one's pants leg. But as suddenly as he felt it, it whisked away like a spider skittering into the shadows. ... The black-dark-blue found himself the last one on the Sands. He looked back and forth from the last members of the swarm, to the android and the woman, and then down the short corridor to the feeding chamber. Wait a minute…there was also the demon- At that moment, Nejireru began to sense that something was watching him. He began to turn around, but did so too late, and found the black-red hatchling on his chest. The halfing at first looked furious, but the dragonet merely stared at him with a snort, as if he should have known all along. His expression quickly changed to a smile. ... You... The voice is violent, almost antagonizing as you turn around. Suddenly, something black and red leaps out of the shadows and onto your chest, sending you falling onto your rear before you can react. Nejireru, he rumbles contently. We'll show him won't we? Your father will be pleased, don't you think? And you'll be damned near invincible. That's what you wanted, right? Besides, who else was I going to pick out of this sorry bunch. Now c'mon...Let's get some grub. He hops off your chest and walks toward the feeding area, before pausing to look over his shoulder at you. Hurry it up! ... The black-red beast leapt off his chest and walked toward the feeding caverns, leaning his head over his shoulder to beckon his bond to follow. Rjernoss The little dark-blue-black gave a perfect 'Well...shit.' snort and squatted onto the ground in an indecisive, wandering gaze between the last bonds and food. ~ Exerpts from the Nightmares and Dreamscapes hatching. The hatching was nearly at its end. A commotion caused by a group of strange aliens, Predators, broke out. They were as amusing to watch as any other strange creatures he'd seen in this place. At times while wandering around the Caer, he wondered why he had thought the majority of people on Alskyr would be human. Even though most were "aliens" like he was, at the moment, they seemed to outnumber Alskyrian-born humans. He had observed these Predators to be loud and obnoxious, especially during the hatching, so when one fell out of the seating and onto the sand, he was not concerned. He smirked, revealing a single elongated canine, as he left the hatching cavern. ~ ~ ~ page 1 ~ 2 ~ 3 |
