Mainly, his duties in the past have been to help out the journeymen by brewing up numbweed, and helping out during surgeries (providing towels, hot water, and tools) as needed. He also goes out on walks to collect herbs, and delivers messages from the healers elsewhere throughout the Weyr.

Zemaal has straight, short strawberry-blond hair (slightly reddish with light-blond highlights) with a longer fringe that falls in his eyes.
• Eyes
Innocent, sparkling blue-green eyes.
• Physique
His pale skin is dotted freckles along his round cheeks and nose. He is not very tall, but wiry and energetic from running in the halls all his life as a weyrbrat, and his fingers are nimble, a good quality to have in the healing craft.

Being a weyrbrat, Zemaal has always worn hand-me-downs and hasn't really developed a taste for any particular fashion. His shoes usually don't quite fit right and his shirts and trousers are usually a little baggy.

Exuding a sunny disposition almost constantly, Zemaal has been known to go out of his way to cheer somebody up, even if he doesn't know them very well. Because of his desire to help others, the he seemed a good candidate to help out in the Weyr's infirmary. He is able to get over the less ideal aspects of healing (surgery, needles, blood) rather quickly, and if he Impresses, looks forward to branching out into dragon healing.

Zemaal has a Maine coon-sized woodland feline named Snake, who tends to follow him wherever he goes. She is so named for her particular taste for small tunnelsnakes. Her right ear is tattered and her right eye useless, both scars left when she tried to fight one twice her size. Needless to say, she is fearless and stubborn, but otherwise friendly with humans and other felines, especially kittens. Besides her ugly scars, her coat is long and luxurious, marked with brown and tabby stripes. Her belly and throat are white.

Totally loyal and trusting with Z'aal, giving him the unconditional support the boy desparately, though secretively, needs. In many ways, he's almost like a large, very intelligent dog, only many times more intelligent, even for a Blue.

He loves to ask Zemmy questions, to keep him on his toes. It is a great way to keep his mind sharp for his healing studies, as annoying as it can be. Often times, he will pop into Z'aal's mind at odd moments, just to throw him off.
